The GBB Program was approved by the Ontario Council on Graduate Studies (OCGS) to continue as a collaborative graduate program at the University of Toronto in December 2009. See the OCGS appraisal brief, compiled in the summer of 2009 by Nicholas Provart.

A town-hall meeting was held on 27 May 2006 to discuss potential changes to the Program in preparation for expanding it to include two new Departments/Institutes and to further grow it. Please see the Town-Hall link for details on the discussion.
